Organized sloop trips through the canals of Leeuwarden or rent a sloop yourself to go a bit further, for example a piece of the Elfsteden route. Various museums, city walks, and bicycle tours in and around Leeuwarden. Leeuwarden (traditionally the city where the Oranges come from) is certainly worth planning a day or even more for!!!
Furthermore, we certainly recommend planning a day in the Dokkum region. Just north of Dokkum you will find the Unesco World Heritage Lauwersmeer area, a top location to enjoy a piece of fantastic nature. In Dokkum itself you will find cozy shops, terraces, the harbor and not to forget the Bonifatius Chapel, you should definitely not miss this!!!
But also certain recommendations in our immediate vicinity are: Harlingen with its fantastic monumental center, the harbors and various restaurants and Franeker with of course the Eisinga Planetarium.
